I’ve been going back and forth on getting paint protection film for my new SUV for weeks now, and honestly the thing that keeps pulling me back towards spending the money is this self-healing technology that everyone keeps talking about, because I’m sick of seeing those swirl marks and light scratches that seem to appear no matter how careful I am with washing. From what I’ve read, the top layer of good quality film is made from an elastomeric polymer that can actually reflow and smooth out micro-scratches when it gets warm, either from the sun or a hot wash, which is basically magic as far as I’m concerned. I live in Mohammed Bin Zayed City and I’ve noticed a few detailing shops around here that advertise this stuff, but I’m always wary of places that claim to offer premium protection without really knowing what they’re doing, especially since I’ve heard that the installation quality is just as important as the film quality itself. I found a listing for a couple of Trusted self-healing PPF options for drivers in MBZ City, which seemed promising because they mentioned using films with a proper TPU core and an elastomeric topcoat that actually does the healing, but I’d still rather hear from people who’ve actually been through the process. Has anyone here had self-healing PPF installed in MBZ City recently and can tell me whether it genuinely lives up to the hype, or if it’s more of a marketing gimmick than anything else? I’m particularly keen to know if the film actually keeps the car looking good without constant detailing, and whether the self-healing properties work in our heat without any issues. Any honest feedback from people who’ve used a local shop would be massively helpful.
