A Recce Walk That Inspires Future Walks

A small but enthusiastic group of four from the ABC1 Cell Group explored the scenic Hillview/Bt Timah area this morning. Their goal? To plan future walks that will help adults and seniors “Walk, Talk, Share the Love of Christ” and build stronger spiritual connections.

The 2.5-hour walk started at 8:30 am and ended around 11:00 am.

Rev. Ximi led the way, joined by Tony and Susan Koh, and Flossie. It was a beautiful, sunny day, reminding everyone of the encouraging Bible verse: “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20).

The group carefully planned their route, starting at Hillview MRT Exit A. Along the way, they found spots that were both naturally beautiful and historically rich, perfect for quiet thought and conversation:

  • Rail Mall: A familiar meeting place.
  • Bukit Timah Quarry ‒ Birds Watching Sanctuary: A peaceful place to enjoy nature and see God’s creation.
  • The Former Ford Factory: A meaningful stop to remember Singapore’s history and think about resilience.
  • The Old Bukit Timah Fire Station: A landmark that brought thoughts of service and community.

The walk finished with a nice brunch at the Bukit Timah Food Centre, near Beauty World. This meal was a great chance to keep the conversations going and deepen their friendships.

This recce walk was more than just exercise. The mix of nature, history, and shared faith made it truly special.

The successful planning of this route means we can look forward to more walks. These walks will help our adults and seniors stay active, grow in their faith, and build stronger bonds within the church community.
