Confession of Faith

Section 1

We confess Jesus Christ as Lord of the Church. The Holy Spirit creates and sustains the Church through the Gospel and thereby unites believers with their Lord, and with one another in the fellowship of faith.

Section 2

We hold that the Gospel is the revelation of God's sovereign will and saving grace in Jesus Christ.  In Him, the Word Incarnate, God imparts Himself to man.

Section 3

This church believes in the necessity for all people to obtain salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, repentance of past sins, renunciation of Satan and all his works, the pomp and vanity of this world, and the turning to a new life in Jesus Christ through baptism.

Section 4

We acknowledge the Holy Scriptures as the norm for the faith and life of the Church. The Holy Scriptures are the divinely inspired record of God's redemptive act in Christ, for which the Old Testament prepared the way and which the New Testament proclaims. In the continuation of this proclamation in the Church, God still speaks through the Holy Scriptures and realizes His redemptive purposes generation after generation.

Section 5

We accept the Apostles', the Nicene, and the Athanasian creeds as true declarations of the faith of the Church.

Section 6

We accept the unaltered Augsburg Confession and Luther's Small Catechism as true witnesses to the Gospel, and acknowledge as one with us in faith and doctrine all churches that likewise accept the teachings of these symbols.

Section 7

We accept other symbolic books of the evangelical Lutheran Church, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles, Luther's Large Catechism, and the Formula of Concord, as further valid interpretations of the Confession of the Church.

Section 8

We affirm that the Gospel transmitted by the Holy Scripture, to which the creeds and confession bear witness, is the true treasure of the Church, the substance of its proclamation, and the basis of its unity and continuity. The Holy Spirit uses the proclamation of the Gospel and the administration of the Sacraments to create and sustain Christian faith and fellowship. As this occurs, the Church fulfils its divine mission and purpose.

Growing Deep in Discipleship

Theme for 2021 and Beyond

The theme for 2021 is Growing Deep in Discipleship. It follows the calling from Christ to be disciples of Him. (Mt 28:19-20) The life of discipleship is a life-long calling for us. It should not just be a catchphrase but a thoughtful focus for every JCCian to examine his/her key purpose of life in 2021.

The emblem depicts a strong tree rooted in Christ. Like the tree, the life of every JCCian cannot flourish apart from the Lord. The two arrows remind us to keep growing in Christ and be the growth catalyst for the church as we strive as disciplers ready to help others grow in Christ.

  • Be One: Every JCCian to be Disciple of Jesus.
  • Make One: Every JCCian to be a disciple who is ready to invest his/her life to build other lives.
  • As One: It is a corporate calling for every JCCian to work together as one on this faith journey.

4 keys areas to build depth:

  • Joshua Culture 23 – Mentoring Initiative
  • One-to-one discipleship – Building young disciples of Christ
  • Cell Ministry – A Core Engine: To Grow Together, Be Equipped, Serve and Touch Lives beyond JCC
  • Active Evangelistic Lifestyle: Personal (Home, Marketplace, School); Church (Strategically in Taman Jurong) and Mission (Cambodia
