JCC Family Day 2023

Family Day at Jurong Lake Gardens

1st May 2023

All the participants at Family Day 2023

As someone who is (relatively) new to JCC, I was quite interested to hear of a ‘Family Day’ event. My cell members told me it would be a great opportunity to mingle with the bigger JCC family and get to know others. It did not disappoint.

On Monday, 1st May 2023, over 70 church members of all ages gathered excitedly in MPH 5 for games and kite painting. We then took a stroll to Jurong Lake Gardens for a picnic. Everyone was upbeat and the only Monday Blues in sight were the clear blue skies.

The activities gave me the opportunity to speak with a few people I had never met before. I was also glad to spend some extended time with my cell group and other church members.

Being part of the JCC family for the last 35 years, I have joined and enjoyed many Family Days, Retreats and Outreach events.  In my external HDD, I have about 1TB of photos and videos of such memories.

This year’s Family Day is good like all the previous ones and we have a new Jurong Lake Gardens to play in.  What impressed me most was that the little girl my wife taught in Sunday School had grown up and was leading the whole event.

It was a fine day. Enjoying the warm sunshine, I did not see any need to apply sunblock.  When I arrived in JCC at 9 am, I had a pale face and by lunch time in the park, someone commented that I had red skin.  The next morning when I looked into the mirror, I was sunburned.

Was I missing something – singing of worship/ fellowship songs and thanksgiving for the lunch?  I could have missed these because I did not come in from the start and I did not stay to the end.  Still, it was a delightful Family Day with wholesome and enjoyable activities for all. Kudos to the organizers!

The games that we played in MPH were very family friendly and suitable for all ages. I had a good time bonding with the rest of the JCC family. A big THANK YOU to the committee for the effort in organizing the event and ensuring that all of us had such fun!

Wonderful to see both young and old in the church playing games together and getting to know one another’s name! So much fun and laughter! During lunch, got to know people whom we see in church every Sunday but never had an opportunity to chat with them.

My sister and I enjoyed the Family Day on Labour Day! We had a great time enjoying the activities and building bonds with brothers and sisters in Christ.
