JCC’s Review & Dialogue 2025 – Embracing a Season of Growth and Renewal

Jurong Christian Church (JCC) is currently undergoing a period of transition and renewal, marked by recent leadership changes both within JCC itself and at the broader Lutheran Church in Singapore (LCS) level. Despite these shifts, JCC remains firmly committed to its unchanging vision and strategy:

  • Vision – To be a Christlike Church, living out the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
  • Strategy – Be One, Make One, As One

On the morning of 19th July, Reverend Caleb Oh and the English Section ministry leaders gathered for a significant Review and Dialogue session. The session began with a devotion and worship, which helped everyone calm their hearts and align their spirits with the Lord.

Following the devotion, Reverend Caleb Oh unveiled the Church’s growth plan, to expand JCC’s congregation to 500 members by 2027. This plan is comprehensive, aiming to reach all demographics, from children to seniors, and includes the dialect-speaking community. A critical part of this plan also involves addressing member retention to ensure that new members are nurtured and remain active within the church community.

Reverend Caleb Oh also provided updates on both the People Ministries and Outreach Ministries, highlighting their crucial role in JCC’s ongoing efforts in discipleship and community engagement. Participants then broke into ministry-specific groups to discuss the implications of the growth plan and spent time praying over it.

The second part of the session was led by Wong Mui, Chairperson of the English Section Leadership (ESL). He emphasized the vital role of JCC’s cell groups and the importance of strengthening the Church’s support systems. Wong Mui highlighted the need to provide better care for members facing emotional and relational challenges, proposing solutions such as in-house counselling by Pastors or referrals to trusted external counselling services.

The session concluded with another breakout time for prayer – this time focused on interceding for the ministries, the growth plan, and the church leaders. The entire dialogue session then drew to a close with a final worship hymn and a closing prayer, uniting everyone in one spirit and heart for the journey ahead.

In this dynamic period of transition, we are deeply grateful for the dedicated leaders who have stepped in to fill crucial roles. As JCC grows and positively adapts, we remain united in pressing toward our common goal – continually seeking God’s guidance and relying on His strength to passionately fulfill our calling to be a Christlike Church.
