Pastor Appreciation Day

The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching. (1 Timothy 5:17)

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. (1 Thessalonians 5:12-13)

From these verses came the idea for Clergy Appreciation Month in 1992 and the rest is history. Pastor Appreciation Day in the US is celebrated annually on the second Sunday in October.

One group that I know who never fails to celebrate this event is ABCG 1 & 2. They celebrated it on 15th January and again on 10th December. In December, it was a simple affair of nasi lemak and gift vouchers for the pastors and of course lots of appreciation in the form of encouragement and hugs.

The pastors were very appreciative and blessed the group with abundance in the years to come.

May we all be thankful to our leaders for their role is to protect, guide and care for the flock.
