YAM CNY 2025 Celebration

On February 8, 2025, the Young Adult Ministry (YAM) and the Chinese section young adults celebrated Chinese New Year (CNY) together.

The celebration kicked off with an engaging icebreaker Bingo game. Participants completed at least two lines on their Bingo cards by finding individuals who matched the criteria listed, which related to personal experiences, characteristics, or actions (e.g., “Didn’t buy new clothes for CNY”, “Have been to mission trip”, “Didn’t pass driving in the first attempt”.). This activity encouraged interaction and helped everyone get acquainted.

The fun continued with a “mystery word” game. Each person received a secret word (food, item, place, etc.) and had to find the matching word by asking questions. Once paired, participants shared their Christian journeys and other topics of interest.

The group also participated in the CNY tradition of “Lo Hei” (tossing a “Yu Sheng” salad), but with a unique twist. Instead of traditional auspicious sayings, they used prayers for God’s blessings.

The blessings draw was a fun affair too. Winners had the opportunity to choose their prizes from a selection of available gifts, rather than receiving a pre-assigned prize. Many winners generously shared their prizes with others, demonstrating a spirit of giving.

Although the dinner catering arrived late, everyone happily enjoyed the Yu Sheng and snacks, using the waiting time to connect with one another.

The event proved to be a resounding success, fostering connections and stronger relationships among the young adults from YAM and the Chinese section.
