A Family Bonded Over Bread and Faith
By Eunice Tan
I am Eunice Tan from e-Lids (Bryan’s YAM cell group).
One of the weeks, after a regular cell group meeting, some of us stayed behind for an impromptu baking session. We bonded over the tedious labour of baking bread (easily 4-5 hours!). By tedious, I mean having to measure all the ingredients with precision, knead and shape the dough and wait in anticipation for the final product.
I truly respect home bakers for their passion and commitment to the craft that requires such tedious effort. I am also grateful to have cell leaders who embody these same traits as they labour in the Lord’s vineyard. They consistently pour out timely advice, form crucial conversations about our faith, and mould us into better versions of ourselves. Much patience and dedication is needed to continuously oversee the spiritual health of so many cell members. And if you ask any of them, they would probably say it’s worth it.
Our cell group is like a family. We have a diverse range of members whom I have had the privilege of growing up with, bantering with during lessons, and learning from. Returning to this homely circle of friends at the end of the week reminds me to count my blessings. I am grateful for the support of my cell group, which continues to shape me into a better Christian amidst life’s challenges.
