The Marriage of Wei Yang & Evania ‒ A Celebration of Hearts and Families United

More than two decades ago, Jurong Christian Church welcomed two precious newborns into the world. Though born on different dates, God’s plan for their futures unfolded behind the scenes.

The parents (Chong Wong Mui & Teo Beng Lay, and Cassidy Yam & Esther Ang) are active church members who understood the Psalmist’s words in Psalm 127:3-5, cherishing their children as gifts from the Lord.

Their faithfulness and commitment within the church community is a source of pride, especially on this momentous day ‒ June 1st, 2024 ‒ when the once-adorable babies have blossomed into a handsome groom and a beautiful bride, embarking on a married life united by God’s grace.

Witnessing the wedding of the now-grown children, Chong Wei Yang and Evania Yam, brought immense joy to the church family.

Unlike a whirlwind romance, Wei Yang and Evania’s love story unfolded slowly, nurtured by the warmth of their church community.

Jonathan Tan (Jnr), who knew them both since childhood, shared how their paths crossed organically through church activities and outings with another couple. While they didn’t initially see each other in a romantic light, a deep friendship gradually blossomed, ultimately leading them to this blessed union.

In his exhortation, Jonathan emphasized the three pillars of a successful marriage: a supportive community, enduring chemistry, and a strong covenant. He highlighted that a strong marriage thrives on the support of loved ones, the continuous effort to maintain the spark, and a deep commitment to God and each other.

This foundation, built within the walls of their church, will continue to provide them with strength and support as they embark on their journey as husband and wife.
