Children’s Day 2024 – City Rumble – Exploring Our History
On 13th October 2024, our children embarked on an exciting journey through Singapore’s past and present. The adventure began at the Singapore River, where they followed clues and completed simple tasks before heading to the Central Business District (CBD).
Along the way, the children learned about Singapore in an engaging manner, discovering landmarks and exploring the cultural parts of the city. The day culminated at the Asian Civilizations Museum, where they explored artifacts over a thousand years old from all over the world. They enjoyed the cool air-conditioning and gained insights into the history of ancient religions and Christianity.
The children had a wonderful time with their teachers and friends, exploring sculptures in the CBD and learning about their significance. Since it was a Sunday, the usually bustling CBD was quieter, allowing the children to explore without the typical weekday crowds.
The journey concluded with a McDonald’s lunch on a grassy patch, picnic-style. We were heartened to hear that the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, relishing the simple joys of being outdoors, under the sun, and soaked in perspiration—just like the olden days.
Despite a week of rain, we were blessed with sunshine and a cool breeze throughout the morning, making the adventure even more enjoyable. God is good, for the rain only began to pour once we had safely arrived back at JCC.
This adventurous day was made possible with the support of dedicated volunteers, including parents, teachers, and youths, who generously gave their time to guide the children around the city.
Special thanks go to Uncle Young Kwang and his team—Evania, Gildabella and Valerian—whose meticulous planning ensured the success of this adventure.
This excursion serves as a reminder to never lose that childlike faith and curiosity. Watching the children delight in grassy patches, ice cream trucks, and a simple lunch reminded us to pause and appreciate life’s little pleasures, knowing they are gifts from God.
Thanks be to God for the safety of everyone and for this wonderful time of bonding. We are already looking forward to the next adventure!
God Bless!
