A New Season in the Lord

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
As I write to you for the first time as Pastor-in-Charge of the JCC English Section, my heart is filled with both thanksgiving and humility. It is with deep gratitude to the Lord and with reverence for the calling entrusted to me that I step into this role — not by my own strength, but in full dependence on His grace.
Thanksgiving for Rt. Rev. Anthony Loh
First and foremost, I invite you to join me in extending our warmest congratulations to Rt. Rev. Anthony Loh, who was installed as Bishop of the Lutheran Church in Singapore (LCS) on June 21, 2025. This is a significant milestone, not only for him personally but also for our entire church family. We’ve been richly blessed by his faithful leadership for many years.
Prior to his installation as Bishop of the LCS, Rt. Rev. Loh tirelessly served our church. He faithfully shepherded the English Section and launched impactful community outreach through the Manna Bridge platform. Through these initiatives, the love of Christ has been extended beyond the walls of our church, touching lives and building trust in our neighbourhood.
As Rt. Rev. Loh steps into the broader role of service as Bishop, let’s continue to pray for him. May the Lord grant him the wisdom to lead, the grace to shepherd, and the strength to serve faithfully in this higher position of responsibility within the wider Lutheran body.
Looking Ahead: A New Season
As the English Section moves into a new season, we recognize that change is an essential part of growth. We anticipate new developments in the following ministries:
- Children’s and Youth Ministry: We are blessed to have a full-time parish worker dedicated to championing the growth and care of these two vital ministries.
- Dialect Service: We thank Deacon Nathan for his years of faithful service. As he returns to his hometown in Medan, let us pray for a replacement to lead our outreach to the elderly.
- Office Administration: We thank Sister Christina Ang for her many years of faithful service. As she resigns, please pray for a replacement to provide essential administrative support.
Let’s commit these changes to the Lord in prayer. May He raise up faithful staff called to serve in these areas with passion and perseverance. Even more importantly, let’s pray for unity of heart and clarity of purpose so that all our ministries not only continue but truly flourish under God’s guidance.
Our Mission: Christ’s Two Great Commands
In this season of change, we anchor ourselves again in Christ’s two great commands:
- To share His Gospel: Jesus says, “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19). Let us pray for new opportunities and creative methods to proclaim the Good News in Jurong and beyond. May our ministries not only grow in number but bring about true transformation in lives as new believers are added to the Church.
- To love one another: Jesus also says, “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:35). Let us pray that we will not grow weary in building relationships rooted in Christ, marked by mutual care, forgiveness, and support. Let us be intentional in hospitality, especially toward visitors and newer members. Let us, in love, encourage and disciple one another.
In closing, I want to thank each of you for your support and prayers as I step into my new role. Together, let us look to Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith, and walk forward in faith, hope, and love.
Yours in Christ,
