From East to South Wind: A Successful YAM Retreat Guided by ‘Breath of God’
YAM Retreat 2023 was a tremendous success, thanks to the dedicated participation of our YAMMERs. It featured a well-balanced program infused with moments of fun, relaxation and spiritual enrichment centered around the theme ‘Breath of God’. Reverend Anthony guided us to explore the symbolism of various winds, each representing a distinct season or circumstance. The East Wind symbolized hardships and trials, while the South Wind represented God’s goodness, echoing Psalms 78:26.
This marked my second time organizing a YAM retreat since entering the ministry three years ago. With each iteration, the process becomes more manageable and enjoyable, knowing I have a steadfast community I can count on. Despite encountering challenges (East winds) in the course of planning and execution, God sent South winds that prevailed.
Having run a marathon and sustained an injury before the retreat, I was worried I couldn’t make it. But on the morning of the retreat, my pain was miraculously alleviated. The programs ran smoothly, and the Spirit of God was with us throughout.
The resort staff were very friendly and hospitable, with a local farm onsite! We spent an afternoon interacting with and feeding the animals, and everyone had a fun-filled time.
This resort is ideal for nature lovers in desperate need of a break from city life. The absence of Wi-Fi also fosters intentional fellowship among YAMMERs.
A special shoutout to my worship team (Min Hui, Nat, Kivan, Boris, Tsu Ern), Rev Anthony, Yi Wen, Jon Goh and Clement Lim who greatly helped me behind the scenes. I look forward to the next YAM Retreat, and may the fellowships continue to blossom on Sundays.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
God Bless everyone!
