Teachers’ Day

By Martin Cheah

On Sunday 3rd September, JCC celebrated Teachers’ Day. All the Sunday School teachers, helpers and Cell Group leaders were called to go forward to receive a prayer and a tote bag in recognition of their service.

I was among that group of youngsters and “young seniors” who served in a teaching role in the church.

The following Bible passages remind us of the importance of teachers in the church.

1 Corinthians 12:27-28

Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.  And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues.

Luke 6:40

The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.

Hopefully, next year the lineup will be filled with many more fully-trained teachers committed to teach others about God’s love and truth.
