JCC Ladies’ Lunch

JCC’s Ladies’ Lunch took place on the 31st of August, with Florence warmly opening the event and welcoming all the ladies as we streamed in after the Sunday morning worship service. This was our second Ladies’ Lunch, and it began with a simple but heartwarming fellowship meal shared in small groups. We caught up on each other’s lives, shared little stories, and swapped updates about the fun things we’ve been up to recently.

The meal was made extra special with Uncle Yew Moi’s delicious homemade glutinous rice and a refreshing serving of Muscat grapes—simple but such a treat! After lunch, Hannah led us in a lighthearted icebreaker where we had to match a fun fact to its rightful owner. That’s when we got to discover quirky little things about each other—like how my auntie doesn’t like Milo (who knew?).

Following the laughter, we settled into a meaningful moment as Aunty Lissa shared her heartfelt testimony about encountering God while growing up. As one of the early members of JCC since 1972, she was among the pioneers who taught many of JCC’s children—children who are now young adults, myself included. Listening to her stories not only gave us a glimpse into JCC’s early days but also reminded me of God’s faithfulness to the Church family through the years.

We wrapped up with a short poll conducted by Jie Min, gathering everyone’s thoughts and preferences for future Ladies’ Lunch activities. Though the session was brief, it was rich in connection and encouragement, bringing together women across all ages.

A big thank-you to the committee for putting this luncheon together—I’m already looking forward to the next one!
