Grace of God – Ex-Rediffusion DJ, Patrick Kwek
On Sunday 17th November 2024, the speaker for the Dialect service was Patrick Kwek, well-known DJ from Rediffusion Singapore which operated from 1949 to 2012.
He had spoken before in the Dialect service on 17th March 2024 and the DLT (Dialect Leadership Team) did not expect this round to be any different.
Out of 14 members of the DLT, 6 were overseas on vacation. This left a gap in manpower. However, we managed to recruit talented volunteers like Thomas Tan, Patrick Low, Doris Ho, Clement and Lian Khup to fill the gap.
Being foreign to the Dialect ministry, they were slightly off-key with some unfamiliar musical selections. Nevertheless, this did not affect the enjoyment of our cherished senior-citizens in the audience who moved and clap to the beat.
Few weeks before the event, we were going out to invite the people from our contacts and the Goshen initiatives to come for this service. We managed to get some tentative acceptance to our invitations. But we experienced very heavy rain, which caused flash floods in parts of Singapore, just before the start of the service. The rain certainly must have deterred some of the elderly from coming.
Despite the heavy rain, a remarkable 91 individuals attended the service, exceeding our usual Dialect service attendance of 65 to 70. Furthermore, we ordered only 80 packets of victuals and yet there was enough for everyone to enjoy. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)
Patrick Quek shared some testimony and sang a couple of songs. While the altar call didn’t receive an immediate response, we pray that all who heard the message will one day come to salvation in Jesus. Watch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/zspSH_VIi7E
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9)
