My Journey of Faith in Jesus Christ
My name is Robert, and I want to share my testimony of how the Lord Jesus Christ has worked in my life. I pray that this story will encourage anyone who may be going through hardships to trust in Him fully.
A Season of Trials
In January 2022, my mother suddenly fell seriously ill. As I watched her weaken, fear gripped me. The doctors described her as a strong woman, yet I couldn’t help but worry about whether she would recover. At the same time, I was battling severe anxiety. My biggest concern was my daughter’s future—she had a dream to study medical technology in college, but with my income, I could not afford her tuition. I spent many sleepless nights thinking, “How can I provide for my family?”
Despite these worries, I kept praying. I asked God to make a way where there seemed to be no way.
God’s Provision
By God’s grace, I was offered an unexpected job opportunity in Singapore. It wasn’t an easy decision to leave my family behind in the Philippines, but I believed it was the answer to my prayer. In March 2022, I flew to Singapore with a heavy heart but a hopeful spirit, trusting that God was leading me into a new chapter.
Finding a Spiritual Family
In June 2022, my landlord, after learning I was a Christian, told me about a nearby church. Out of curiosity, I took my bicycle one Sunday and searched for it. That’s how I discovered the Jurong Christian Church.
From my very first day in this church, I was welcomed with open arms. I met Tony, a kind and hospitable brother in Christ, who introduced me to the church family. He invited me to join their fellowship group, and soon I became part of the “Befrienders of Cyclists” ministry which offers free bicycle maintenance services to the public. I served alongside Patrick, Daniel, and Michael. I also met Rev. Anthony, whose cheerful spirit and encouraging words strengthened my faith.
For the first time since arriving in Singapore, I felt like I had a second family.
A Time of Struggle and Drifting Away
Things seemed to be going well until Singapore faced a chicken supply crisis due to restrictions from Malaysia. Fear entered my heart again—what if I lost my job? How would I support my family? Thankfully, God intervened, and the crisis was resolved in a few months.
However, my work became so demanding that I often had to be scheduled for duty on Sundays. Slowly, I stopped going to church. My passion for fellowship faded, and eventually, I lost the desire to attend at all.
Meanwhile, life kept throwing challenges at me—family issues back home, work stress, and personal disappointments. I felt overwhelmed and alone. In my weakness, I shut myself off from friends and even avoided communication with my family. Deep down, I wanted to give up and return to the Philippines.
Still, Tony, Patrick, and Rev. Anthony never gave up on me. They kept reaching out, gently reminding me to keep trusting in Jesus. Their persistence showed me what true Christian love really looks like. Today, Rev. Anthony—now a bishop—continues to send me daily devotions, which I gladly share with my family in the Philippines.
Returning to God
In November 2024, after months of encouragement, I finally decided to return to Jurong Christian Church. It wasn’t easy. Each time I tried to draw closer to God, new problems arose—family struggles, job pressures, and even doubts about my faith.
But one day, I came across a message on TikTok that pierced my heart: “When you’re getting closer to the Lord Jesus Christ, the devil will try everything to pull you away.”
That simple truth made me realize what was happening. I was in a spiritual battle. From that moment, I resolved not to give up. I chose to persevere, to worship Jesus no matter the circumstance, and to put my full trust in Him.
As I fully surrendered my problems to God, I began to see that He had already taken care of the things that seemed impossible to me.
God’s Faithfulness
In February 2025, I received my job promotion—a blessing I never imagined when I first came to Singapore.
I want to give thanks to God for His goodness to my family. My daughter had been struggling with her mental health for some time, but the Lord opened the way for her to receive the right psychiatric care. By His grace, she is now improving greatly, and we are witnessing His healing hand at work in her life. My mother’s health is stable, and I feel peace in my heart knowing that God is watching over my family.
Through all these ups and downs, I learned that God truly works in ways beyond our understanding. His timing is perfect.
My Encouragement to You
Whatever you are facing right now—whether it’s family problems, financial struggles, or doubts about your future—remember this: Trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds tomorrow. And because of that, I can say with confidence: With Jesus, everything will be fine.
