JCC Dialect Cell Groups

By Martin Cheah

Joo See had always said that she would help out with the Dialect CG meetings when she retired.  On 16th May she retired, and on 18th May she attended the Dialect CG meeting with the elders for the first time.  I accompanied her and tried to remain inconspicuous in the background, but I think everyone there noticed me because I was taking photos throughout.  In all, I took more than 100 photos and videos of a 2-hour CG session.  Watch the photo shoot here:  https://youtu.be/FeNyd7cRFDE

We left the house and crossed the street to the hawker centre to collect the famous Bukit Timah white carrot cake that Seline had ordered for the tea break.  Twenty packets were quite a weight to carry by bus to JCC.  We reached JCC earlier than the elderly, but Deacon Nathan was already in MPH1 managing the PA system.  We went inside the hall to enjoy the air-conditioning.

Soon the elders arrived and Joo See began to introduce herself to them.  She was surprised that some of the people did not recognize her. There were about 20 elders in the group that day.

The CG started with some worship songs followed by some low-impact exercises led by Florence.  Then it was time for games.

When the elders were all fired up, Deacon Nathan shared a short devotional with them.  Meanwhile, at the back of MPH1, tea break was being prepared.  After the message, the people broke up into small groups for discussion, food and tea.

The group closed with a short prayer. Then the elders were sent on their way home.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. (Ephesians 2:10)

Is this God’s purpose for Joo See?
